oluşuyor her şey. Diğer bir
deyişle bütünler hücrelerden
oluşuyor. İnsanlardan toplum,
toplumlardan “insanlık” oluyor.

vb. Bu listeyi sayfalarca
uzatmak mümkün elbette.
Bursa binlerce hücreden
oluşuyor. Kanı, canı her şeyi
etrafta.
Bu sayıda Bursa’nın dokularını
aradık. Hangi dokuyu ele alsak
“Bursa” dedi zaten. Çünkü
bütün Bursa’nın yapısını ve
özelliklerini taşıyordu. Bu
yüzden işimiz de oldukça
kolay oldu. İyisi kötüsü,
kapısı bacası, tarihi geleceği,
doğal güzellikleri şehir
siluetleri, kültürel değerleri
sanat etkinlikleri, insanları
hayvanları artık aklınıza ne
geliyorsa Bursa denince;
bize darıldı bu sayıda. Çünkü
hepsine yer veremedik,
veremezdik. Aralarından çok
dillendirmediklerimizi seçtik.
Mesela karikatür sanatının
unutulmaz isimlerinden
bir tanesini konuk aldık
sayfalarımıza. Bursalı karikatür
sanatçısı Cemal Nadir
sayfalarımıza tebessüm getirdi.
Diğer bir Bursa dokusu olan
gölge sanatımız Karagöz’ü
inceledik ve hayalilerin piri
Şinasi Çelikkol’a kulak verdik.
Doctor Who ile zamanın
dokusuna uzanıp, geçmiş ve
geleceğin içinde seyahat ettik.
Tek karenin içine sığan Bursa
dokularında yine Bursa’yı
aradık. Ağaç gövdelerinden,
taş duvarlardan, neredeyse
yakın plan bakabildiğimiz
her yerden Bursa damıttık
sayfalarımıza. Kültür
Mirası Listesi’ne giren
Cumalıkızık’tan, Sultan
Çarşıları ve Külliyeleri’nden...
Ne yana baksak hepsini
birden bulduk. Birbirine
sıkı sıkı tutunan, birbirinin
yansıması olan, birbirini
tamamlayan minik Bursa’lar
gördük. Gördüklerimiz sayfayı
çevirdikten sonra başlıyor.

Those who are interested in
photography know that films have
grains. Their modern counter-
parts are pixels. They make up
the whole image.
Those who deal with textiles know
that fabrics have textures. They
are what make up the fabric.
Painters know that there are mo-
lecules that make up the colors
of objects, known as pigments…
They are what make up colors.
When you look around you see
that everything is made up of
cells and the wholes made up
of them. In other words, wholes
are made up of cells. Humans
make up societies and societies
make up “humanity”. Let us think
of Bursa; what comes to mind
when we say Bursa… Uludağ?
The Grand Mosque? Chest-
nuts? Peaches, Sword & Shield,
Setbaşı Bridge, FSM Boulevard,
Zeki Müren, redbuds, Kaleiçi,
lotus, Deveci pear, Nalbantoğlu,
Somuncu Baba, Time in Bursa
poem, the Bursa bird plays on,
Osmangazi, Apollo Butterfly,
Karagöz, olive, sericulture, Cemal
Nadir, Ahmet Vefik Pasha and his
theater, Hünkar Palace, Botanical
Park etc. Of course it is possib-
le to keep on listing for pages.
Bursa is made up of thousands of
cells. Its life blood is everywhere.
In this issue we are looking into
the textures of Bursa. Whatever
came to our mind, we associated
with “Bursa” anyway. Because
it carried within it the structure
and properties of Bursa. That is
why it was an easy task for us.
Whatever you can think of when
we say Bursa; the good and bad,
the doors and chimneys, the
history, future, natural beau-
ties, skyline, cultural values, art
activities, people and animals; all
these were offended. Because we
couldn’t include them all, it was
not possible. We tried to select
those that we had not mentioned
a lot before. For example we hos-
ted an unforgettable name from
the world of cartoon arts in our
pages. The cartoon artist Cemal
Nadir laid down smiles on our
pages. Another Bursa texture was
the shadow play Karagöz and
we interviewed the master Şinasi
Çelikkol. We travelled in time with
Doctor Who. We searched for
Bursa within the textures of Bursa
that fit in a single frame. We distil-
led Bursa from the barks of trees,
from the stone walls and from
wherever we could look upon.
From Cumalıkızık which entered
the World Heritage List, from Sul-
tan Markets and Ottoman Social
Complexes (Külliye)… Wherever
we looked we found them all. We
saw small Bursas inside each ot-
her reflecting one another to form
a complete picture. What we saw
starts when you turn this page.
