68 film şeridi storyboard Sinema tarihine ilgisi olan herhangi birisi zaten şu an bu satırları okuyordur ve birazdan bahsi geçecek tüm detayları en ince ayrıntısına kadar biliyordur. Fakat bu yazıyı okumaktan da kendisini alamıyordur tıpkı Chaplin filmlerini izlemekten kendisini alamadığı gibi… Chaplin eski bir sinema şahı ama geride bıraktıkları tıpkı filmine verdiği isim gibi modern zamanlarda bugün hala nefes alabiliyor. Bunca animasyon, teknoloji, eğlence ya da ışıltılı oyuncaklar olmasına rağmen bugün bile güldürüyor Chaplin… Çünkü gülmek isteyen her çocuğun, tebessüm eden her insanın, zaman kavramından sıyrılmak isteyen herkesin keyfini yerine getirebilecek bir karakterdi Charlie Chaplin… Siyah beyaz filmlerinde çizdiği görünümler, şaşkın palyaço Şarlo karakteri, belki de bizim toplumumuza yakın gelen özellikleri, kısaca her şeyi sıcak kılıyordu bize Chaplin’i… Onun bu kadar bizden birisi olması aslında basit bir tesadüf değildi. İşini çok çok iyi yapan bir oyuncu- yönetmenin tüm sinema algılarına karşı çıkışıydı bu… Her şeyden önce bağımsız sinemacılığın ne demek olduğunu kanıtlayan en önemli sanatçı oldu. Sinemanın isterse bir patron güdümünden çıkıp, bir sanatçı (yönetmen) güdümüne kolayca girebileceğini ele güne ispatladı... Bağımsız sinema ekonomik ya da psikolojik olarak bir kurum, kuruluş ya da kişiye bağlı olmadan, yönetmen önceliğinde çekilen filmlere verilen isimdi ve bunu en güzel o yaptı. His career was a total defiance against all perceptions of cinema by a greatly competent actor- director… Above all, he was the greatest figure to underline the importance of independent cinema. He proved that cinema does not have to be under rule of bosses but can be led by an artist (director)… Independent cinema meant movies shot by director without any adherence to any institution or person in economic and psychological terms, and Chaplin was the master of art. Chaplin led an interesting life but never lost his power of resistance… He became very poor following the illness of his mother… Life was not too kind to him until his stepbrother found him a job in a theatre company.
