“Kıymetlimiz…”

Onun değersiz ve çirkinliklerle dolu hayatında önemsediği tek şey “kutsal yüzük”tü. Adını çıkardığı seslerden, çirkinliğini ise çok değer verdiği o yüzüğün lanetinden alıyordu. Dünya çapında büyük ses getiren film serisi “Yüzüklerin Efendisi”nin unutulmaz karakterleri arasında yer alan Gollum; zayıf, kemikli, tüysüz ve ince derisiyle belki de görülebilecek en çirkin yaratıktı ama onun da uğruna canını hiçe sayacağı bir değeri vardı. O eski bir Hobit’ti ve tesadüfen kuzeninin bulduğu yüzüğe yalnızca kendi sahip olmak istedi. Bir anlık hırsına yenilip kuzenini öldürdü ve ona ölene dek lanetten başka bir şey getirmeyecek olan yüzüğe sahip oldu. Kaderi o andan itibaren “kıymetlisi” ile ortaktı, ve sonunda onunla birlikte yok oldu.

It was only the “sacred ring” that he gave importance during his worthless and ugly life. He got his name from the sounds he made and his ugliness from the curse of the ring he loved dearly. Gollum was among the unforgettable characters of the “Lord of the Rings” series which received critical acclaim worldwide; he was maybe the ugliest creature one can see with his weak, bony, hairless skin but there was one thing that he could spare his life for. He was a Hobbit of old and he wanted for himself the ring that his cousin had found accidentally. He was overwhelmed by a momentary ambition thus killing his cousin and possessing the ring that would bring him nothing but curses until the day he dies. His fate was common with his “precious” from that moment onwards and in the end he perished with it.
