Neredeyse her şey; toplumsal,
ekonomik, sosyal ve cinsel
alanda kabul gören ataerkil
düşünce ile şekillendi. Tıpkı
yaradılış mitinde* bahsedildiği
gibi, kadınlar ve erkekler
yalnızca biyolojik olarak değil;
ihtiyaçları, yetenekleri ve
işlevleri bakımından da farklı
görüldüler. -Erkekler “doğal
olarak” daha güçlü ve akılcılar,
dolayısıyla egemen olmak ve
hükmetmek için yaratılmışlar
gibi- bir anlayış egemen
oldu. Erkekler, rasyonel
zihinsel yetenekleriyle dünyayı
yorumlayıp düzene sokarken;
kadınlar, çocuk doğurma
ve yetiştirme yetenekleri
dolayısıyla günlük yaşamın
ve türün üretilmesi işlevini
üstlenirler dendi. Kadının
“ötekileştirilmesi” için egemen
güçlerin, iktidarın, dinin ve
erkeğin şartları kullanıldı
ki bu haksız bir rekabetti.
Kadın “kabul edilmek” için
köleleşmek ve öteki olmak
zorundaydı. Gelenek, töre,
örf, adet, bayatlamış yasalar
veya toplumun ön yargıları
sebebiyle örselenen kadınlar
bu toplumun tek çıkış noktası
diye düşünüyorum. İlkel
bir bakış açısıyla “benim
olmayan kötüdür” denilerek
tecavüz edilen hatta öldürülen
kadınları anlatan haberleri
artık duymamamız tek
dileğim... Ancak ensest, taciz,
tecavüz, çarpık ilişkiler ve
öldürme eylemleri ne yazık
ki son bulmuyor. Kadının
insani gücünü tüketerek, onu
küstüren, aldatan, döven,
söven ve armağanlarla yeniden
onu sömüren, sömürten bakış
açılarımız (hem kadınlar hem
erkekler için söylüyorum)
sorgulanmadığı sürece kadına
yapılan şiddetin sonu gelmez.
İşin özü bakış açısını değiştirip,
eşit bir mantık kurabilmekten
geçiyor. Kadınlara “bakış
açısını güçlendirmeyen” bir
milletin; ahlaktan, onurdan
veya erdemden söz etmesi
bence mümkün değil.

The hard social roles imposed
on women for centuries have
legitimized the concept of
religion as the most important
tool of the hegemony of power.
Almost everything was shaped
by a patriarchal way of thinking
accepted socially, economically
and sexually. Just as is stated in
the myth of creation, women and
men were seen to be different
not only biologically but also in
terms of their needs, abilities
and functions. A manner of
thinking ensued in which men
were “naturally” stronger and
rational, thus it is as if they have
been created to dominate and
rule. It was always repeated
that while men interpreted and
arranged the world with their
rational mental abilities, women
took on the responsibilities of the
continuation of life and the species
due to their ability to give birth
and raise children. Conditions
of the dominant rulers, powers,
religion and men were used to
“marginalize” women which ended
up in an unfair competition. The
woman had to become the other
and accept to be a slave in order
to be “accepted”. I believe that
women who are crumpled by
traditions, customs, laws that have
become stale or the prejudices
of the society comprise the only
point of exit for this society. My
only wish is that we no longer
hear news about women who
are raped or killed due to a
primitive perspective stating that
“whatever is not mine is bad”…
Unfortunately however; incest,
abuse, rape, twisted relationships
and killing incidents do not end.
Violence on women will not end
unless we start questioning our
perspectives (both for women and
men) that consumes the humane
powers of women, that offends
them, betrays them, beats them
up and then starts the cycle of
exploitation once again by way of
gifts. In short, we have to be able
to establish an equal logic and to
change our perspectives in order
to be able to solve this issue. I
don’t think that a nation that does
not “strengthen its perspective on
women” may talk about morals,
honor or virtue.

* İnsanlık tarihinin bilinen “ilk günahını”
anlatan yaradılış mitinde çarpıcı bir
betimleme vardır ve bu “yeni bir bilgi”
değil... Bu bilgi “kadınlara bakış”ın
da başlangıcıydı fikrimce... Cennet
Bahçesi’ndeki bilgi ağacının yanında
“tüm saflığıyla” Havva durur, ağacın
üzerindeki ise yılanla özdeşleşen
şeytandır... Şeytan elmayı yemesi için
Havva’yı kandırmak üzere sinsice
yaklaşır. Havva şeytan tarafından
kandırılır. Havva, Adem’i de inandırır
ve elmayı paylaşırlar, bir anda her
şeyin ve kendi çıplaklıklarının farkına
varırlar, “utanç” duygusuyla tanışırlar,
saklanırlar ama Allah ikisini de
cennetten kovar, dünya cehennemine
gönderir; kadını doğum sancısı ile
simgeleştirilen acı ve kölelikle ve
erkeği bitmek bilmez bir efendilikle
“cezalandırır”. “Yaradılış”ın ya da
“insanın dünyaya gelişi”nin hikayesi
olarak oldukça çarpıcı bir anlatım
kuşkusuz… Çünkü bu “başlangıç” tüm
geçmişi ve bugünkü bakış açılarımızı
da etkiledi.
* There is a striking description in the
creation myth which tells us the “first
sin” in the history of mankind and this
is “not new information”… I believe that
this information was the starting point
for the “perspective on women”… Eve
stands beside the tree of knowledge in
the Garden of Eden with all her “purity”;
the devil that is identified with the snake
is on the tree… The devil approaches
Eve to trick her into making Adam eat
the apple. Eve is tricked into doing
so. Eve also makes Adam believe him
and they share the apple after which
they suddenly realize the starkness
of everything around them as well as
their nakedness; they feel “shame” for
the first time and try to hide but God
expels them from heaven and throws
them down to the hell of the world while
also punishing women with a pain and
slavery that is symbolized as the pain
of giving birth and men with a never
ending “mastery”. This is undoubtedly
a strong expression as the story of
“creation” or the “coming of mankind to
earth”… this “beginning” has affected
all our past as well as our current
perspectives.
