and to rejuvenate. The lake that
you will see after you pass the

around on the path. Kazancı
or Şükraniye Village located on
the foothills of Uludağ from the
province of Kestel has a history
dating back to the Ottoman
Empire. About 40 Bosnian
families were settled here during
the period of dissolution of the
Ottoman Empire. The name
of this village came from the
sentry that used to guard the
Bursa road and hence the village
was known by the name of the
Kazancı Village. 2-3 acres of land
was given to each household
when the village was established
in order to make use of farming
in this region. Majority of those
who left this region during the
Greek occupation in 1920 have
settled in Bursa. The name
of the village was changed to
“Şükraniye Village” during the
Republic period. There was
another migration from the village
during the 80’s due to water
shortage and for some time
there were only 3-4 households
left. Those who went back to the
village built Bosnian type houses
to spend the summer which are
still standing. With its 600 meter
altitude and the 600 hectares
of forest filled with oxygen, you
will have your fill of every tone of
green and spring.
Even though there has been
many misfortunes in the past and
this area has been left countless
of times, it has attracted people
yet again with its immense
