Doğu’nun incisi Van görülmeye değer güzelliklerle dolu. Bunlardan biri de Akdamar diğer adıyla Surp Haç
Kilisesi. 915–921 yılları arasında, o dönemde Van’da hüküm süren Vaspurakan Ermeni Hanedanı’ndan Kral
I.Gagik tarafından mimar keşiş Manuel’e inşa ettirilen kilise 18. yüzyıla dek süren çeşitli eklemelerle bugünkü
halini aldı. Geçmişin anılarıyla dolu Surp Haç Kilisesi, Van - Tatvan Karayolu üzerinde ve merkeze yarım saatlik
mesafede bulunan iskeleden kalkan motorlara binerek ulaşabileceğiniz Akdamar Adası’nda sizi bekliyor.
Van is filled with places worth seeing as the pearl of the East. Akdamar is one of these spots and is also known as the Surp Haç Church. Built by
architect monk Manuel during 915–921 with the order of Emperor Gagik the 1st of the Vaspurakan Armenian Dynasty that reigned in Van at the
time, the church has taken its current appearance with many additions made until the 18th century. Surp Haç Church, filled with memories of the
past, is located on the Akhdamar Island which you can reach by hopping on one of the motor boats on the Van – Tatvan highway about half hour
away from the city center.
