Migration / Dreams,
Realities, Roads
The concepts of going from one
place to another, wafting from the
places where one belongs only to
take roots again someplace else
have been an essential part of
the lives of all living beings, ever
since they existed.
This displacement was initially
caused by climate, natural
disasters and food; but is now
replaced by the concept of
“migration” solely caused by
other people.
Today, all living beings
– including people – try
desperately to find new habitat
as a result of the destruction
caused by people.
Human beings have long been
part of nature and shaped their
lives according to its rules.
Still living in the same manner
today, and transforming this into
a cultural way of living; people
choose to migrate temporarily
and voluntarily in order not to
interfere with nature and to be
able to make better use of it.
However, outside of this voluntary
migration, today we also witness
huge forced migrations which
separate people from their lands
and from their country, or in other
words from their “roots”. The
occasional displacement of the
old is now replaced by a wave of
“great migration” covering almost
the entire world and resulting in
great tragedies.
Due to reasons such as
uncontrolled increase in
population, sociological and
religious wars and adverse
climate conditions, people are
flocking towards lands where
they can exercise their very basic
right to life.
People who are (left) homeless
find themselves ready to face
everything and take their
chances with migrating.
Each new wave of migration,
every immigrant takes to the
roads for the sake of nothing
but “hope”; leaving behind their
lands, their roots and a memory
which they may never see again.
Towards an unknown…
