Çoğu eğitimli, aklı başında
ne istediğini bilen gençlerden
oluşan bir topluluk, yalnızca
var olan düzene karşı çıkmak
için bilinçsizce bir araya
gelmiş olamayacağına göre;
kısa zamanda milyonlarca
kişiyi etkisi altına alıp, yıllarca
süren Hippi kültürü, altında
bilinenden çok daha derin
anlamlar taşıyor olmalı. Bir
dönem tüm dünyayı saran
Hippi akımı, belki zannedildiği
gibi tamamen yok olmuştur;
belki de 60’lar ve 70’ler ruhu,
bugün hala bir yerlerde ya
da birilerinde başka kılıklara
girmiş bir şekilde yaşıyor ve
yaşatılıyordur.

Kimine göre ise, bohem
hayatın tam anlamıyla hakkını
veren, insandan, hayvandan,
doğadan yana olmayan

dünyanın tam da ihtiyacı
olduğu zihniyete sahip bir
akımdı. Onlar özgürlüğüne
düşkün ve umursamaz gençler
değil, aksine savaş karşıtı ve
fazlasıyla duyarlı insanlardı.
En çok umursadıkları şey ise
barıştı. Onlara göre parasız
ama sevgi dolu bir dünyada
özgür ve barış içinde yaşamak
mümkündü. Dünya çapında
tanınan Janis Joplin, John
Lennon, Jimi Hendrix gibi daha
birçok ünlü ismin destekçisi
olduğu bu gençler, tüm
şarkılarını barış, insanlık ve
umut için söylediler. İsyanları

The Hippie culture that was born
during the 60s as a reaction to
the prolonged Vietnam War was
for some a useless movement
that consisted only of a few
spoiled kids. Whereas for others,
this was a movement that had the
mindset the world needed doing
justice to bohemian life, rejecting
everything that is against
humans, animals, and nature.
They were not indifferent young
men/women who were fond of
their freedom, on the contrary
they were overly sensitive. And
peace was what they cared
most about. They thought that
living in peace in a moneyless
world with love was possible.
These young people found
support from artists famous
throughout the world such as
Janis Joplin, John Lennon, Jimi
Hendrix and they sang their
songs for peace, humanity
and hope. Their rebellion was
not against a specific order
but for stopping wars and their
harmful effects. Their reaction
that started during the Vietnam
War as a small group in time
developed into rumors that they
had a political agenda. But their
life style, their reactions and
rebellion methods were proof
that they supported no political
party or ideal. They just believed
in love and peace; they were
trying to explain that freedom
was something that all living
things on this world deserved.
They had no other belief except
that the world “needs love not
war”. When the hippie movement
was just starting, world famous
boxing legend Muhammed
Ali Clay had declared that he
