sözleriyle yürürken, insanlara
çiçekler dağıtan binlerce çiçek
çocuk, bu sevgi dolu eylemiyle
tarih yazmıştı. Psikanalist Eric
Fromm’a göre, Hippi akımı tarih
boyunca yaşanan en tutarlı
hareketti.
“Özgür olmak zordur,
ama başardığınızda buna
değer.” Janis Joplin
1970’li yıllarda ülkemize de
uğrayan Hippi akımı, doğayla
iç içe yaşamayı tercih eden ve
kendini apolitik bir görüşe yakın
gören gençlerin ilgisini çekmiş;
onlar da, ülkelerine gelen bu
“bitli turistlerin” renkli Hippi
minibüslerle yaptıkları dünya
turlarına katılmışlardı. Akımın
savunduğu komün hayatı kabul
eden yüz binlerce genç, her
türlü çevresel etkinliklerde
yer alarak; “Greenpeace”,
“Earth First”, “Friends of
Earth” gibi çevreyi ve dünyayı
korumaya yönelik oluşumlar
gerçekleştirdiler. Parayı kabul
etmeyen, sisteme karşı çıkan
bir topluluk; yaşamak için
görüşlerine uygun bir yol
bulmak zorundaydı. Veganlığı
ve vejeteryanlığı tercih eden,
et yemeyi, hayvanlara zarar
vererek beslenmeyi reddeden
Hippiler, sürekli gezer ve
gittikleri yerlerde hayatlarını
sürdürebilmek için sokaklarda
müzik yapıp şarkı söylerlerdi.
Bugün hala bu ruhun izlerini
taşıyan Olimpos ve Kelebekler
Vadisi, Hippilerin en etkin
oldukları yıllarda en çok tercih
ettikleri yerler arasındaydı.
En bilinen buluşma noktaları
“Rainbow Festivali”ydi ve bu
festival; doğanın bütünlüğünü
kabul eden, paylaşmayı
hayatlarının merkezine koyan
herkese açıktı. 70’li yıllarda
çıktıkları Uzakdoğu ağırlıklı
gezilerde, kendilerini yakın
buldukları inançlardan bir
tür karma felsefe yaratan
Hippiler; ilkelliğin en büyük
lüks olduğuna inanan ve
meditasyonla ruhlarını
arındıran bir topluluktu. Taoizm,
Şamanizm, Budizm, Paganizm,
Nihilizm gibi temelini doğadan

and this festival was open to
everyone who accepted the
integrity of nature and made
sharing the center of their
lives. Hippies created a mixed
philosophy through the beliefs
they discovered during their Far
East trips in the 70’s and they
were a community who believed
primitiveness was the biggest
luxury and who cleansed their
souls via meditation. Hippies
met at the common point of
beliefs founded on nature such
as Taoism, Shamanism, Budism,
Paganism, Nihilism and they
were perceived of as a negative
and bad community because
some of their members lost their
lives since they were not able to
interpret this movement correctly.
Actually they were “Rainbow
Fighters” and all they wanted was
to make the world as colorful as
their lives. Their goal was to bring
an unending spring to the world.
Love was at the core of all their
anti-war actions. They wanted
addictive substances to be
legalized because they believed
that these substances increased
creativity allowing people to
express themselves through art.
They rejected politics, fear, war,
and social rules while embracing
love, peace, friendship, freedom,
and music. The only order they
bowed down to was that of the
universe and their only goal
was to stand against all that
disrupted the balance of nature.
Skip Stone, who was the author
of the book “Hippies from A to
Z” summarized their beliefs like
this, “Love is accepting one
another as they are and giving
freedom to individuals so that
they can express their opinions
without being judged by others.
This is the core of the Hippie
philosophy.”
