gözlerinden kaçmadı yakından
geçen hızlı gemi sirenlerin.
Çınlayan sesleriyle hemen
başladılar ezgiye: -Gel buraya,
dillere destan Odysseus,
Akhaların şanı şerefi. Durdur
gemini de duy bizim sesimizi.
Hiçbir zaman bir kara gemi
buradan geçemedi, durup
dinlemeden ağzımdan çıkan
tatlı ezgileri... Dinlerler doya
doya, daha çok şey öğrenip
öyle giderler, biliriz biz engin
Troya’da(Truva) olup bitenleri...
Güzelim sesleriyle onlar böyle
diyorlardı ve dinlemek istiyordu
benim gönlüm, kaşlarımla işmar

Şehrin manzarasına eşlik eden
İncir, Fener, Hayırsız, Orak,
Kartdere ve Metelik adaları
ıssız yerler, her türlü yerleşime
kapalı. Tekne yolculuğunun
ikinci durağı ise Foça’nın
tam karşısında bulunan ve
15 dakikalık bir yolculukla
ulaşılabilecek olan İncir Adası.
İngiliz Burnu’nun karşısındaki
adada antik yerleşimden izler
var. Mezar odası, kayalara
oyulmuş mum yerleri, su
kanalları, süzme havuzları,
mağaralar, Kybele kabartmaları
ve tapınak kalıntıları gezinizi
daha macera dolu bir hale
getirebilir. Adanın çamlarla
kaplı bölümü, bahar ve yaz
aylarında piknikçilerin gözdesi...
Burada çadır kamp alanları,
ızgara ve olta balığı ya da et
mangal servisleri yapılan kır
lokantaları da bulunuyor. Bahsi
geçmişken hemen söyleyelim,
yöre mutfağının en bilinen
yemekleri yoğurtlu balık ve
Arnavut Böreği.

İncir, Fener, Hayırsız, Orak,
Kartdere and Metelik islands
which accompany the panorama
of the town, are closed to all
kinds of settlement. The second
stop of the boat tour is İncir
Island which is right across Foca
and only 15 minutes by boat. In
this island, across the English
Headland (İngiliz Burnu), there are
remains from antique settlements.
Sepulcher, candle holes carved
on rocks, aqueducts, filtration
pools, caves, Cybele reliefs and
temple ruins make your journey
more adventurous. The area
covered with pine trees is a
picnickers’ favorite… Here, there
are also camping areas and
restaurants in the countryside that
serve barbeque and fish. By the
way the most popular meals of the
area are bogue with yogurt and
Albanian timbale.
Besides monk seals, the rooster
is also a symbol of the town.
Windmills, Genoese Castle, Stone
House, External Castle, Kayalar
Mosque, Ottoman Graveyard,
Hafız Suleyman Mosque and Fatih
Mosque are amongst the most
important structures of the area.
The city walls and the Five Gates
(Beskapılar) are the boathouse of
a castle in the Ottoman Period.
According to the inscription here,
it was repaired between the years
1538 and 1539 during the reign
of Suleyman the Magnificent and
reconstructed between 1983 and
1994. The best protected parts
of the castle that surround the
town on the peninsula consist of
the repairs from the Byzantine,
Genoese and Ottoman times.
Built in 1678, there is not much
left of the whole External Castle.
There are remains of Turkish Bath
inside. Fatih Mosque is the most
important structure of the Turkish
period of the town. It is also
assumed that Kayalar Mosque
was built either in the 15th or the
16th century. Its minaret was built
in the 19th century.
The traditional Foca houses,
known as tower houses or row
houses, are also identified with
the town. The tower houses exist
collectively or singly either in
villages that still have settlements
or in abandoned areas outside
Foca. There are no gardens in
row houses, they are directly
connected to the streets. There
are also separate single houses
with naked walls and stone
settings.
