Gezerken nerede olduğunu
kimsenin bilmediği bu taşa
basanlar, bir daha Foça’dan
kopamazmış. Yolu bir kez
Foça’ya düşenler bu öyküyü
duyunca dolaşıp dururlarmış
sokaklarında... Kim bilir daha
ilk adımınızda Foça’nın mitoloji
kokan sokaklarında siz de
takılı kalırsınız. Ege’nin kendini
turizmin kötü yönlerinden
koruyabilmiş yerleşimlerinden
birisi Foça. Aslında Foça’nın
her yeri “Karataş” ile kaplı
sanki. Foça’yı görüp de
sevmemek, dönüp de
gelmemek mümkün değil gibi.
İzmir - Çanakkale karayolundan
İzmir’e bağlı 28 ilçeden birisi
olan Eski Foça’ya ulaşılabiliyor.
Doğuda Menemen, kuzeyde
Çandarlı, batıda Ege Denizi,
güneyde de İzmir Körfezi
çevreliyor. İlk bakışta turizmin
ve balıkçılığın en önemli
geçim kaynağı olduğu kolayca
anlaşılabiliyor. Az yağış ama
çok rüzgar alan Foça, yazın
sıcak günlerinde serin olması
ile zaten tercih sebebi olduğu
için turizm kentin atardamarı...
Yaz aylarında tatilcilerin gelmesi
ile birlikte 75 bin kişiye ulaşan
Eski Foça nüfusunun büyük bir
kısmı ise emeklilerden oluşuyor.
Ege’de eski dokusunu
diğer kasabalara göre
daha iyi koruyabilmiş sahil
yerleşimlerinden birisi Foça.
Eski ve Yeni Foça olarak iki
bölgeye ayrılmış. Korunmuş
olanı Eski Foça. Zaten konumuz
da orası. Balıkçı ve gezinti
tekneleri, küçücük adacıklarla
dolu güzeller güzeli bir koy,
daracık taş sokaklar, eski
evler... Bunların hepsine birden
Foça deniyor ve misafirlerini
hemen kucaklayıveriyor Foça.
Yabancılık hissetmiyorsunuz.
Diğer bir deyişle insanı ilk
görüşte sarıp sarmalıyor.
Eski Foça’dan Yeni Foça
yönüne doğru giderken art
arda sıralanan Mersinaki
koyları Foça’nın aynı zamanda
en güzel plajları da. Birçok
Foca streets. Foca is one of the
locations that preserved itself from
the negative aspects of tourism
in the Aegean. In fact, it seems
as if the whole place of Foca is
covered by the “Blackstone”. It is
impossible not to like and come
back to Foca after visiting it.
You can reach Foca, one of the
28 districts of İzmir, by İzmir-
Çanakkale highway. Foca is
surrounded by Menemen in the
East, Çandarlı in the North, the
Aegean Sea in the West and
İzmir in the South. It is easy to
understand at the first look that
tourism and fishing are the most
important sources of income.
Since Foca, with little rain but too
much wind, is preferred for its
cool weather in summer, tourism
is the main source of income. The
population of Old Foca, which
goes up to 75 thousand with the
vacationers in summer, is largely
of retirees.
Foca, compared to other towns,
is one of the seaside locations,
which could preserve its old
structure, in the Aegean. It is
separated into two regions as
Old and New Foca. Old Foca is
the preserved area. It is our topic
after all. Fishing and tour boats,
a beautiful bay with many small
islands, narrow cobbled streets,
old houses… All at once are
called Foca and Foca welcomes
its guest immediately. You never
feel like a stranger. In other words,
it bundles you up.
As you head for New Foca from
Old Foca, all those Mersinaki
coves in sequence are also
the most beautiful beaches of
Foca. There are also many well-
preserved and private beaches.
Moreover, you can easily see the
old mills and the cliffs that run
steep to the sea. Along the coast,
there are clean sandy beaches,
affordable, nice and clean hotels
and pretty pensions. You can not
even stay away from the lovely fish
restaurants rowed in Küçükdeniz
(Smallsea).
There are daily boat tours to
many large and small islands and
bays in the surrounding areas.
You can hire a private boat if you
wish. Your first stop will be Orak
Island half an hour away from Old
Foca. In the first part of the island
