The coasts at the very southwest
of Turkey are different than the
rest. There are Dalmatian type
coasts here – famous for its dogs
– just like the coasts of Croatia
that sprawl parallel to the sea full
of a myriad of carstic islands.
Even though these coasts do
not host thousands of islands
like the Adriatic Sea, you should
definitely come here even if only
to enjoy the perfect scenery
that this wonderful coast type
provides. The best way to do this
is via boat tour at Kekova which
is currently under protection…
Actually we can summarize
the issue with a very classical
sentence. Kekova is a route
where “Nature and culture
intertwine”. You can reach here
in two ways. The first is via a 3
hour long roundtrip on boats that
set out from the harbor at Kaş, a
district of Antalya… Whereas the
other is via boat tours that start
from the Üçağız Village in the
Kekova district that reach here in
about 35 minutes… A trip full of
sun and sea sounds good, right?
Then your route for this summer
is set… Kekova Island has given
its name to the region. However
this island is not included in this
route. Batıkşehir (Sunken city,
Dolichiste), Kaleköy (Simena) and
the village of Üçağız (Theimussa)
which we can call as the
entrance to the region…
Kekova is the favorite of divers as
well with its unique underwater
beauty as well as its underwater
flora and fauna with the clearest
of waters in Turkey… Historical
remains and amphoras dating
back to the 7th century have
been determined near Batıkşehir
that has been submerged as
a result of earthquakes that
occurred between 141 and 240
B.C. The Kekova Island is where
submerged history has been
revealed with basilica apse and
archeological remains from
the Byzantine period. Contrary
to common knowledge, it is
a district of Demre, not Kaş.
It is also known as “Paradise

Tıpkı karaya paralel, karstik
kimlikte, binden fazla ada
ile çevrili Hırvatistan kıyıları

da yeryüzünün dört bir yanı
sularla çevrili bu olağanüstü
kıyı tipinin size sunduğu
manzaraları seyreylemek
için bile bu bölgeye mutlaka
uğramalısınız. Bunun en güzel
yolu da koruma altındaki
Kekova’ya yapılacak bir tekne
turu...
Klasik bir cümle konuyu
güzel özetliyor aslında.
“Doğa ve kültürün bir arada
bulunduğu” bir rota Kekova.
İki türlü ulaşabiliyorsunuz. İlki
Antalya’nın Kaş ilçesindeki
limandan hareket eden,
kooperatif mantığıyla çalışan
ve gidiş - dönüş yaklaşık 3
saatlik bir yolculuk yapan
tekneler... Diğeri ise Üçağız
Köyü’nden yani Kekova
bölgesinden direkt başlayan
ve 35 dakikada bölgeye
ulaşan tekne turları... Güneş
ve deniz dolu bir yolculuk,
kulağa hoş geliyor olsa gerek.
O zaman bu yaz rotanız
belli... Bölgeye ismini veren
Kekova Adası’nın ta kendisi.
Ancak rotada sadece bu
ada bulunmuyor. Batıkşehir
(Dolichiste), Kaleköy (Simena)
ve bölgenin giriş kapısı olarak
adlandırılabileceğimiz Üçağız
(Theimussa) Köyü...
Eşsiz sualtı güzellikleri ve belki
de Türkiye’de görebileceğiniz
en berrak sulara sahip
olan Kekova, sualtı faunası
ve florası sayesinde dalış
sporu ile uğraşanların da
