geçen gün biraz daha ilerleyen
dev bir sektör haline geldi.
Yunanlıların antik çağlarda
tedavi amacıyla köylerde
kurdukları termal banyolar,
hem rahatlamak hem de çeşitli
hastalıklardan kurtulmak için
kullanıldı. Bunlar bugünkü
otellerin temelini oluşturdu.
Roma İmparatorluğu
zamanlarında inşa edilen
konaklar ise farklı sebeplerle
seyahat edenlere, gezginlere,
maceracılara; konaklama
ve yeme-içme hizmeti
sunuyordu. Manastırlar, hanlar,
kervansaraylar konaklama
için kullanılıyor; o günlerden
bugünlere ulaşan birçok tarihi
yapı, inşa edildiği dönemlerde
insanlara sığınabilecekleri,
günlük ihtiyaçlarını
karşılayabilecekleri güvenli
ortamlar sağlıyordu.
Zaman içinde farklı ülkelerde,
farklı şehirlerde açılmaya
başlayan oteller arasında
tatlı bir rekabet başladı. İlk
zamanlar birbirine yabancı
insanlar aynı odaları
paylaşmak zorunda kalırken,
önce bu özellik yavaş yavaş
ortadan kaldırıldı. Ardından
otelin sunduğu imkânlar
önem kazanmaya başladı:
bulunduğu mevki, odalarından
görülen manzaralar, eğlence
seçenekleri gibi...
Otellerde eğlenceler
düzenlenmeye, bugün
neredeyse tüm otellerde
görülen özel günlere hitap

Monasteries, inns, caravansaries
were used for accommodation
purposes; many historical
structures that reached our
day from those times provided
people secure environments
where they can meet their needs.
Over time, a sweet competition
ensued among the hotels
that were opened in different
countries and cities. Whereas
foreign people had to share
rooms during the first times, this
obligation was soon overcome.
Soon, the amenities provided
by the hotels started gaining
importance: its location, scenery
of the rooms, entertainment
options…
Entertainment organizations
were started to be established
and the foundations of large
halls were made which today
address the needs of all kinds
of special days in hotels. There
were even hotels in Bursa which
opened up casinos during the
90’s (Almira, Kervansaray, Çelik
Palas etc.) until it was later
banned. Everything was done
to be preferred. This forced the
potential customers to be too
particular and to act more picky.
They were not only looking for
places they can stay, rest and eat
when traveling but were making
their selections from among the
hotels with the best scenery,
most luxurious rooms and even
places where they will have the
most fun.
Modern day fairy tale
It was the end of an era and
19th century had left its place to
the 20th century. People were
