Christian Tobin was brought into
the city thanks to the efforts by
Kültür A.Ş., BTSO and Bursa
Metropolitan Municipality. Kinetic
power of water was used in this
45-ton piece that was the result
of a six month long toil. The 8
and 7-ton upper sections of
the sculpture are moved by the
power of the water while also
representing the conversation
between Karagöz and Hacivat.
Thus, Shadow Puppetry dating
back hundreds of years is
revitalized amidst the stones and
waters. When looked closely, it is
possible to see that the sculpture
representing the bad temper of
Karagöz spurts forth more water
and moves faster. There is also
a Turkish ditty on Karagöz and
shadow puppetry around the
sculpture which presents a new
background for the souvenir
photos taken in Bursa. And a
crypto made up with the motives
from Seljuk architecture next to
the Turkish ditty…
The memories of Bursa reflected
