cenazesiyle gelip ortalığı nasıl
kasıp kavurduğuna hiçbir
zaman şahit olamayacaktık.
1950’de Saraybosna’da
dünyaya gelen Goran
Bregovic, Sırp bir anne ve
Hırvat bir babanın tek oğlu.
Annesi ve Yugoslav Halk
Ordusu’nda subay olan
babası ayrıldığında annesi
ile birlikte doğduğu yer olan
Saraybosna’da yaşamaya
başladı. Hayatının her
döneminde türlü zorluklarla
boğuşan Bregovic en zor
yıllarını, profesyonel olarak
müzik yapmaya başladığı 17
yaşına kadar yaşadı. Büyük
bir hevesle girdiği müzik
okulundan, henüz ikinci
sınıftayken “yeteneksiz” olduğu
gerekçesiyle uzaklaştırılmasına
rağmen, annesinin ona aldığı
gitarını hiç bırakmadı ve hem
kendi çabalarıyla hem de
arkadaşlarının desteğiyle
müzik hakkında birçok şey
öğrendi. Aynı yıl “Formation
Bestije” isimli bir müzik
grubuna dâhil oldu. Bu grupta
geçirdiği iki yılın ardından
“Kodeksi” ismindeki grupta
bas gitar çalmaya başladı.

witnessed how he turned into a
giant on stage and took everyone
by storm with his 45 people
orchestra as well as weddings
and funerals.
Goran Bregovic was born in
Sarajevo in 1950 as the only
son of a Serbian mother and
a Croatian father. He started
living in Sarajevo, his place of
birth, when his mother and his
father who worked as a military
officer for the People’s Army
of Yugoslavia got divorced. He
faced many hardships during
every stage of his life and the
most difficult years were those
he lived through until the age of
17 when he started working as
a professional musician. Even
though he was suspended from
the music school he had signed
up eagerly on the grounds of
being “untalented”, he never
gave up on the guitar his mother
had bought him and learned
a lot about music with his own
efforts as well as with the help of
his friends. In the same year he
joined a band called “Formation
Bestije”. After spending 2 years
with this group, he started
playing bass guitar in the band
“Kodeksi”. It was during this
time that Bregovic decided to
continue his education at the
conservatory and to take violin
lessons. He was expelled from
school because he did not attend
lectures regularly. Discouraged,
Bregovic decided to follow a
new path and returned to the
university as a philosophy
student thus moving away from
music. At least that’s what he
thought, because music had
