başladığı bir kitapta kendi gibi
birçok maceracıya hem cesaret
hem de ilham verdi. 1800’lü
yılların sonlarında İstanbul’dan
bir arkadaşını da ikna edip
bisikletle yola çıkan Ahmet
Tevfik, bu kitapla hem dönemin
Bursa’sını geleceğe taşımış
hem de Bursa’nın ilk bisiklet
rotasını belirlemiş oldu. Kitap,
Ahmet Tevfik Bey’in her yönüyle
bisikleti anlattığı, bisiklet
kullanmanın güzelliklerini,
üstünlüklerini, keyfini yazdığı
satırlarla başlıyor. Ahmet
Tevfik Bey’in anlattıklarına
göre arkadaşını ikna edip
bisikletleriyle gerekli hazırlıkları
yapıyorlar ve yanlarına gerekli
birkaç malzeme alıp çıkıyorlar
yola. Mudanya’dan başlıyor
yolculukları, Bursa, İnegöl ve
Yenişehir güzergahı boyunca
bisikletle geziyorlar. Yol boyunca
neler gördüyse, neler yaşadıysa,
ne zorluklar atlattıysa ya da ne
güzelliklere rast geldiyse bir bir
paylaşıyor Ahmet Tevfik Bey
kitabında.
Hem eğlenceli hem de öğretici
olan bu kitapta iki arkadaşın
bisikletle 10 günde aştığı 267
km yol ve yol boyunca şahit
olduklarıyla birlikte uzun bir
bisiklet yolculuğu hakkında her
tür bilgi yer alıyor.
Ahmet Tevfik Bey’in 100 yıl önce
yazdığı ve kendinden yüzlerce
yıl sonrasına ışık tutacak olan bu
kitabı, 2007 yılında saklandığı
yerden çıkarıldı ve “Yüz Yıl Önce
Bisikletle Bursa” adıyla yeniden

100 years ago which will shed light
for many more centuries to come
was taken out of its hiding place
in 2007 and reprinted with the title,
“Bursa By Bike A Century Ago”. It
was possible once again in Bursa
to take this book out of dusty
shelves and introduce it to the new
generation bike lovers.
A centennial adventure
BUBİDOSD (Bursa Association of
Bicycle and Nature Lovers) that
was established in Bursa in 1993
and that started seeking this book
3 years after its foundation has
been continuing for 7 years on the
route pointed by Ahmet Tevfik. The
team organizes this activity every
year with a different theme the first
of which was carried out in 2010
entitled “A Centennial Adventure
By Bike”. For instance, this year
the organization was carried out
during June 2-5 with the motto of,
“We are aware of autism and we
stand by you.” The route started in
Mudanya just like in the book and
passed through Nilüfer, Kestel,
Inegöl, Yenişehir, Iznik and Gemlik.
This 100 year old adventure
that brings together all bicycle,
sports and nature lovers owes its
existence to the notes taken by
Ahmet Tevfik during a bicycle ride
he went with his friend. The activity
also includes a stamp exhibition.
Many stamps are on display at the
exhibition from the first periods of
bicycles to the Olympics including
special collections printed for
special bicycle tours as well. The
value and importance of bikes for
everyday life continues to increase
with time. Thus, bicycle lanes are
built in the cities, activities are
organized to inform people and
raise awareness to the fact that
other vehicles should be more
sensitive towards bikers.
