istasyonunda indiğinizde
tam da Big Ben’in önüne
çıkıyorsunuz. Big Ben aslında
resmi adı Elisabeth Kulesi olan
devasa saat kulesindeki büyük
çanın adı ama malumunuz
galat-ı meşhur lügat-ı fasihten
evladır... Saat kulesi tek başına
dikilmiyor elbette. Dünyanın
en büyük dördüncü saat kulesi
olan bu büyük abi tümleşik
bir yapı şeklinde Parlamento
Binası ve Westminster Sarayı ile
birlikte nehir kıyısında zamana
direniyor ve 1859 Mayıs'ından
beri hiç teklemeden doğru
saati gösteriyor. Kuleye çıkarak
muhteşem Londra manzarasını
görebilmek için ise İngiliz
vatandaşı olmanız gerekiyor
maalesef. Westminster Abbey
ise, Houses of Parliament ve
Big Ben'in yanında bulunan
İngiltere’nin en meşhur kilisesi.

Ben, is the most well-known
church of England. The entrance
to this church, which the royal
family prefers for their weddings,
has a fee. The graves of some
scientists, like Isaac Newton and
Charles Darwin among the first
ones that come to mind, are also
located in this church.
After taking a photo in front of Big
Ben, we hit the road again. With
the company of many tourists,
unavoidably being in their picture,
we will see Big Ben and The
Houses of Parliaments from a
distance after walking over the
Westminster Bridge. No matter
how pale and pastel yellow it
would be, House of Parliament
colors the blurred waters of
Thames. You’d better come
here also when the night lights
are on, at a time when the sky is
parliament blue. Across the river
is Lambeth Area. The enormous
ferris wheel located on the river
side is “London Eye”. This huge
“eye”, which enables you to see
London to a distance of 25 miles
in clear weather was replaced for
the millenium and was planned
to be moved to another location
after 2005.When it was first built,
it got many reactions for ruining
the texture of the city, but it still
continues to see the city since
it became a popular symbol... I

London Aquarium, next to London
Eye, can be a good choice for
those travelling with children.
An alternate interesting way of
seeing London is to take a boat
trip on river Thames. You can
watch the beautiful city scenery
with a boat tour, which ranges
from 30 minutes to 4 hours, as
you pass by many important
touristic places. Those who do not
want to miss this opportunity, can
join a tour from Westminster pier
at the foot of the bridge.
