Reflection in the water, an immortal flower
“…Its tears dropped on the water as it watched itself in awe. The surface blurred. Narcissus started to be wiped away.
“Take good care,” whispered Narcissus. Its weary head fell on the grass full of flowers. The dead Narcissus could not
be found. The water it fell into now has a saffron color and its name is now that of a white flower…”*

uzaklaşmaya başladı Nergis. ‘Sağlıcakla kal’ dedi ta derinden Nergis. Düştü bitkin başı çiçekli çimenlere.
Nergis’in ölüsü bulunamadı. Düştüğü su da şimdi safran rengi, beyaz bir çiçektir artık adı…”*

Herkesin başka şekilde
bildiği efsaneleri konuşulur
Nergis’in. Hepsinin başı farklı
da olsa sonu aynıdır. Sudaki
yansımasına âşık olan mitolojik
kahraman Narkissos’un,
kendine duyduğu hayranlık
yüzünden canından oluşu
anlatılır yüzyıllardır. Öldüğü
yerde bir çiçeğe dönüşen
kibirli ve kendini beğenmiş
avcı Narkissos’un hikâyesidir
bu. Adını ve güzelliğini
Narkissos’tan alan Nergis ise
Everyone tells a different legend
for Narcissus. They all have a
different beginning but with the
same ending. The legend tells
the story of the mythological
hero Narcissus who falls in love
with his reflection in the water
and dies because of this. It is the
story of Narcissus, a proud and
arrogant hunter who transforms
into a flower at the place he
dies. The plant Narcissus takes
its name from this legend
and resembles a charming,
expressive and delicate lady
aware of her own beauty.
