inançlarını, kültürlerini ve
günlük yaşamını zihninizde
canlandırabiliyorsunuz.
Sokaklar, duvar resimleri,
sütunlar çeşmeler, havuzlar...
Hatta mozaiklerin bulunduğu
şekilleriyle sergilenmesi de
çok ince bir ayrıntı. Yönleri ve
sıraları bulunduklarıyla aynı
konumda ve aynı büyüklükte
yerleştirilmiş.
Müze koleksiyonların büyük bir
kısmının çıkartıldığı Poseidon
ve Euphrates villalarıyla
başlıyor. Etrafta o dönemden
kalma bazı heykeller ve
malzemeler var. Müzenin
girişine Kommagene Kralı
Antiokhos’un hükümranlığını
pekiştirmek ve yönetim
planını oluşturmak amacıyla
yaptırdığı, Herakles ve Helios
betimli anlaşma stelleri
konulmuş. İki kabartmanın
ortasında, Herakles ile
Antiokhos’un tokalaşmasını
gösteren stelin arkasında
bulunan yazıt var. Yazıt bir cam
üzerinde, Türkçe ve İngilizce.
On üç renk armonisinden
oluşan mozaikler yıllar
içinde define avcılarının
talanıyla eksilmiş. Kalanlar ve
kurtarılanlar büyük bir itina ile

to that period. Agreement
stelar depicting Heracles and
Helios have been placed at the
museum entrance to reinforce
the sovereignty of Antiochus,
the King of Commagene and
to create a management plan.
There is an inscription behind the
stelar depicting the handshake
between Heracles and Antiochus
right in between the two relieves.
The mosaics that consist of
a harmony of thirteen colors
have been lost because of the
pillaging of the treasure hunters.
The remainder as well as those
that have been saved are being
displayed with utmost care. The
workshop section is also an
important part of the Gaziantep
Zeugma Mosaic Museum.
Many mosaic experts work at
the section inside the museum
that has been built to complete
the excavated mosaics and for
immediate restoration needs. The
glass covered workshop can also
be watched from outside by the
visitors.
The most popular piece of the
museum is undoubtedly the
Mainad Mosaic known also
as the “Gypsy Girl” which has
become a symbol of both
Zeugma and Gaziantep and
which has been used many
times in the advertisements of
Turkey. There is a special room
for this mosaic located at the first
section of the second floor. The
mysterious room designed as a
labyrinth brings forth the dreamy
look of the Gypsy Girl even more.
