dolanan tanıtım “jingle”ları,
dinleyerek “izlenebilen” radyo
tiyatroları, sıradaki parçayı
tüm sevenlere armağan
eden sıcakkanlı “DJ”ler,
mahalleden Hale, Lale, Jale ve
bütün mahalleye gönderilen
şarkılar… Hayatımıza
radyolarla birlikte giren tüm
bu kavramlar, zamana uyup
artık farklı şekillerde karşımıza
çıksa da, radyo kültürünün
oluşumundan ve gelişiminden
akılda kalanlar...
Şimdi her şeyi internet
üzerinden yaptığımız gibi radyo
dinleme konusunda da yine
internete bağlanıyoruz. O eski
radyolar yok artık. Birçoğu
ardında bıraktığı yılların ya da
bir aile büyüğünden kalmış
olması hatırına tavan aralarında
saklanıyor. Bir kısmı antika
dükkânlarının baş köşesinde
duruyor. Sanki yanına gitseniz,
düğmesini çevirseniz yapıldığı
yıllardan kalan haberleri
dinleyebilecek, o eski şarkıları
duyabilecekmişsiniz gibi bir
his veriyor duruşları. Hani şu
açtıktan sonra ses duymak
için lambasının ısınması
beklenen radyolar… Duyulan
Short and long waves, buzzing
frequencies, news at the top of
every hour, choir performances,
catchy jingles, radio theatres that
you “watch” by listening, warm-
hearted DJs dedicating songs to
all lovers, sending out songs to
the girls of the block… all these
concepts came into our lives with
radio… Even if they have adapted
to the changing time, they are the
remains of the radio culture…
Today, as we do everything
on-line, we go on-line to listen
to the radio. Gone are the good
old radios. Most are hidden in
the attics on account of the years
spent together or because they
once belonged to a loved family
member. Some have the front
seat at an antiques shop. They
look like they will start telling the
news or play the songs of those
times; you just need turn them
on. The radios that you need to
warm-up before you hear the
sounds… You start to tune in right
after the first buzzing sound, the
colored rod would stroll between
the city names or the frequency
numbers in front of the radio,
until you hear a clear sound.
Sometimes, with the curiosity
of childhood, you dismantle
them, trying to find the source
of the voices from the radio, to
understand how all those people
fit into that tiny box… Sometimes
a companion to the ones
suffering from heartache… It was
