Cinema Workshop. This year
another new cinema association
opened its doors in February in
Bursa. Aykırı Cinema Association
at the Nilüfer Campus of
Associations greeted the locals
of Bursa with the screening of
“Uçurtmayı Vurmasınlar” and
Tunç Başaran along with another
actress from Bursa, Nur Sürer
were guests. “Başka Cinema”
screenings are also being carried
out in recent years in Bursa
which were started by M3 Film,
distributor of independent films
and Ababay Association. Bursa
galas are organized for national
films with the participation of
actors and actresses as well as
technical teams. Activities carried
out to continue the tradition
of summer cinemas, open air
cinemas set up at different
districts and streets of Bursa are
all to find a remedy for the long
underlying the question, “Just
where are those cinemas of the
past?”
Cinema was a magic in Bursa
once… Cinema halls were
mysterious journeys… Summer
cinema halls were among the
most popular entertainments
during years without television…
It is not possible to know whether
we abandoned them or they
wearied with the passage of time
but the locals of Bursa do not
seem as if they will give up on
their love of cinema that easily…
They will continue to watch films
at the cinema halls, enjoy the
light reflected on their faces from
the curtains and to follow the
new films and sessions. Perhaps,
they will decide on which film to
watch when they see the “this
week’s screening” billboards or
perhaps they will select a film
from the “Bursa cinema halls”
section at

com.tr”. Indeed, they will even
be able to purchase their tickets
online. “Bursa’s love of cinema”
will never end. Nothing will be
as they were in the past, but
perhaps the light shining from the
machine room will never die out.
