Nergis, bir Türk. Buika, verdiği
röportajlarda çok istemesine
rağmen zorlandığı için bir
türlü Türkçe öğrenemediğini
ve hayranlık duyduğu Sezen
Aksu’yu hiç tanışmadığı
kardeşi olarak gördüğünü
söylüyor. Özel hayatında ona
göre sıradan ama başkalarına
göre enteresan detaylar da
taşıyor. Kocasıyla evliyken aynı
zamanda bir kadına da aşık
olarak trio (üçlü) bir evlilik yaptı
Buika. Daha sonra biten bu
evlilikten bir oğlu da var. Belki
de her duyguya, her görüşe,
her kültüre açık oluşu ve bütün
bunları şarkılarında bir araya
getirerek sunması daha da
etkili hale getiriyor söylediği
şarkıları.
Yaşadığı her acıya, hayatındaki
her kötü anıya rağmen geriye
dönüp baktığında onu üzecek
hiçbir an olmadığını düşünüyor
Buika. Hayatta her şeyin
insanlar için olduğunu kabul
ettiği gibi müziğin neşeden
olduğu kadar hüzünden
ve acıdan da beslendiğini
savunuyor. Onun “dumanlı”
sesini duyduğunuzda unutmak
ya da hissettirdiği duyguları
görmezden gelmek mümkün
değil. Ünlü olmak ya da
tanınıyor olmak için hiçbir
çabası da yok. Sadece olduğu
gibi yaşıyor ve sevdiği için
yazıyor, onu mutlu ettiği için
şarkı söylüyor. Her hücresinde
hissettiği kelimeleri melodiye
dönüştürürken sesiyle birlikte
mimiklerini, jestlerini, gözlerini
her şeyden öte ruhunu ortaya
koyuyor. Onu dinlemek kadar
izlemek de ayrı bir zevk haline
geliyor. İşte Buika bu yüzden
büyülüyor insanları. Şarkılarıyla
ise, duyguları anlamak için
kullanılan dilin bir önemi
olmadığını ispatlıyor.

Pedro Almadovar has said that
“her songs bring us face to
face with our love stories. And
it leaves us in such a place that
our disappointments are in the
spotlight. Mores o, after you
listen to her, you can decide to
make the same mistakes again,
as there is no place for reason,
precaution or regret in passion.”
The spreading flame of Spain,
Buika, takes the audience to
indescribable emotions in her
stage performances. She touches
their souls; she expresses their
pain and shares their emotions.
Buika always says that she
makes people feel because
she can feel, and she kindles
a flame inside people with her
voice, but only makes them feel
sufficient pain, and then she puts
out the fire just in time. Buika is
also the favorite of music critics.
They describe her as “beyond
excellent”. She makes people sad
with her smoky voice, yet warms
people with her genuine attitude
and smile. While listening to her,
you may find yourself drifting
off, and crying or smiling for no
reason. And she is not distant to
our country which she loves. First
of all, Sinan Ufuk Nergis, who
is the manager that introduced
her to Turkey and to her fans, is
Turkish. Buika also says in her
interviews that although she
wants to learn Turkish badly, she
has difficulty in doing so, and
that she considers Sezen Aksu,
whom she has never met, a sister.
In her private life, she has traits
that are considered extraordinary,
but are mundane to her. She fell
in love with a woman when she
was married to her husband and
had a trio-marriage. She has a
son from that marriage, which
has ended. Perhaps the fact that
she is so open to every emotion,
every opinion, every culture and
how she represents them in her
songs make her songs even
more powerful.
Despite all the pain she has
experienced, and every bad
memory, Buika says that when
she looks back, there is nothing
to upset her. While she accepts
that everything is for humans to
experience, she also defends
that music feeds from pain and
sorrow, as much as from joy.
When you hear her “smoky”
voice, it is impossible to ignore
the feelings you wanted to
forget. She has no ambition to
be famous. She lives as she
pleases, and she writes and
sings because it makes her
happy. She displays her gestures,
her eyes, and moreover her soul
when she is turning words into
melodies. Watching her becomes
just as pleasant as listening to
her. This is why Buika enchants
people. Her songs prove that
language has no importance to
comprehend emotions.
